DANCE CLASSES

All of our dance class progressives run in the following terms: Fall (Sept – Dec), Winter (Jan – March), Spring (April – June) & Summer (July & August).  Progressive classes are registration based and there are cut off days each term usually 3 – 4 weeks into each new semester.  After these dates registrations are closed and participants must wait until the following term to join a progressive class.  To register please email letsmoveinfo@gmail.com

Bellydance – Beginners

Ages: All Ages

Style: Drop-in

Description: Bellydance classes are fun, uplifting and empowering. Posture, muscle isolations and dance movements are taught using a variety of stretch and strengthening exercises. In this class you will learn graceful techniques, layering movements and simple choreography. The classes are low-impact, can aid in stress reduction, and are likely to boost your self-esteem and body image. Come feel the magic and sensuality of bellydance and
leave each class with revived beauty and energy!

Bellydance – Progressive

Style: Progressive

Description: In addition to the bellydance description above this class will focus on learning choreography and progressive bellydance pieces. This class is great for beginners as well as advanced dancers alike and will provide a structured method of learning various bellydance movements in a positive and uplifting class environment. This class is unique in regards to the design as it allows for new students to join the troupe at any time without feeling lost and existing students to also build on choreography to complete a variety of dance routines. Come feel the magic and sensuality of bellydance and leave each classs with revived beauty and energy!

Hip Hop – All Levels – Progressive

Style: Progressive

Description: Hip hop is an energetic form of dance that is unique because it allows its dancers to perform with freedom of movement, adding in their own personalities. The hip hop culture was originally inspired and influenced by DJ’s, graffiti, rappers and B-boys and B-girls. This inspiration transcends into this upbeat high energy dance hour that will teach you to follow choreography and learn basic street dance movement. This class is great for beginners as well as advanced dancers alike and will provide a structured method of learning various hip hop dance movements in a fun-filled and vibrant class environment. This class is unique in regards to the design as it allows for new students to join the crew at any time without feeling lost and existing students to also build on choreography to complete a variety of dance routines. Ballet – Beginners

Ages: All Ages

Level: Beginners

Style: Drop in

Description: This class is designed to introduce and teach the basics of ballet to a true beginner. It will include elementary positions of classical ballet, some lyrical inspired ballet and instruction will focus on proper alignment in a casual, fun and non-threatening atmosphere. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to take a ballet class as an adult who never learnt how to dance as a child? Or perhaps you’d like to take your love for dance and learn how to have more grace, technique and style? This would be the class for you. Ballet attire and shoes are not required, come as you are in your fitness inspired clothing and wear your socked or bare feet. There is no bar, no hard fast rules or prima ballerina attitudes in this informal yet fun filled class.

Dance Fusion

Ages: All Ages

Level: Beginners

Style: Progressive

Description: Dance Fusion is a chance to get a taste of several different styles of dance. This class is for all those people who say “I can’t dance” or “I don’t know how to dance”. You will learn the basics of Krumping, Polynesian, Hip Hop, Stomp, Belly Dance and interpretive in a lively, no pressure environment. You will also learn to fuse them together in a fluid way. All these styles have techniques that will teach you how to be aware of the numerous areas of your body and how to move each of them. Everyone CAN dance and this class is a perfect, easy way to learn how!

Hoop Dance – All Levels

Description: Bored of your exercise routine? Try low impact, high energy, calorie blasting hooping. Learn mesmerizing hoop tricks to up-beat music, improve core strength, tone body, boost self-confidence, and most of all, have fun! Bring your own hula hoop or use ours! This class is sometimes held outdoors during the summer months so please email letsmoveinfo@gmail.com for more information on the times and locations of this unique class.

Go-Go Dance (1960’s) – All Levels

Ages: All Ages

Level: All Levels

Style: Drop in

Description: This style of dance represents the freedom and expressiveness of the era from which it was born. Dance holes in your soles to the best music from the 1960’s. Learn super boss moves like the pony, the Watusi, and the jerk! Join us for a finger popping, outta sight, surprisingly aerobic time! Shake it, don’t break it friends!

Rest assured that the health and safety of our instructors, staff, clients and friends is our #1 priority.  We've consulted with Interior Health and Worksafe BC to ensure that our space and processes will keep us happy, healthy and well.

All indoor group low intensity exercise may resume.  Any exercise that does not result in significantly increased respiration rates is allowed.  Studio operator and instructors will use best judgement in identifying what should not be practiced and is considered high intensity.

Our offerings are LIVE IN PERSON at the studio.  We are also broadcasting most of our classes online to accommodate our members who are not yet ready to return to the studio in person.

 

General Health & Safety Guidelines:

  • DO NOT ENTER if you have any flu like symptoms
  • Must reserve online in advance for contact tracing measures
  • Sanitize/wash hands upon entering
  • Enter at the back & Exit out the front to alleviate congestion
  • Sanitize all equipment before and after use (leave for Instructors to put away)
  • Blankets and yoga straps go immediately to the wash bin (All mats, foam and cork blocks, bands, balls and other items can be sanitized)
  • Wipe down any surfaces you’ve touched with a sanitization wipe (ie walls, chair, other equipment, bathroom fixtures)
  • Disposable products to ensure cleanliness
  • Frequently touched surfaces sanitized after every class
  • Sanitization stations throughout studio
  • 2 Meter social distancing when not exercising  - 2 M -
  • 2.5 Meter social distancing in studio  - 2.5 M -
  • No congregating in common areas, entrances and exits
  • Wash and sanitize your hands often
  • Use of floor fans discontinued
  • No hands on cues from instructors
  • Masks are required at all times when NOT exercising
  • Health guidelines posted throughout
