Dance Classes
All of our dance class progressives run in the following terms: Fall (Sept – Dec), Winter (Jan – March), Spring (April – June). Generally Progressive dance classes to not run in the summer months (July & August). Please note that not ALL classes can take registrations in the Spring term (April – June). It is advisable to join Progressive dance in September and January each year. Progressive dance classes are registration based and there are cut off dates each term usually 2 – 3 weeks into each new semester. After these dates registrations are closed and participants must wait until the following term to join a progressive class. 12 Weeks (3 Months) of 1 Progressive Dance class per week is $180.00 + GST and gives access to 12 classes in the term. Unused or missed classes do not roll over to the following term and all classes expire at the end of each term. Description: Hip hop is an energetic form of dance that is unique because it allows its dancers to perform with freedom of movement, adding in their own personalities. The hip hop culture was originally inspired and influenced by DJ’s, graffiti, rappers and B-boys and B-girls. This inspiration transcends into this upbeat high energy dance hour that will teach you to follow choreography and learn basic street dance movement. This class is great for beginners as well as advanced dancers alike and will provide a structured method of learning various hip hop dance movements in a fun-filled and vibrant class environment. Description: This class is designed to introduce and teach the basics of ballet to a true beginner. It will include elementary positions of classical ballet, some lyrical inspired ballet and instruction will focus on proper alignment in a casual, fun and non-threatening atmosphere. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to take a ballet class as an adult who never learnt how to dance as a child? Or perhaps you’d like to take your love for dance and learn how to have more grace, technique and style? This would be the class for you. Ballet attire and shoes are not required, come as you are in your fitness inspired clothing and wear your socked or bare feet. There is no bar, no hard fast rules or prima ballerina attitudes in this informal yet fun filled class.

This Level 2 ballet class is designed for dancers with a basic foundation in classical ballet who are ready to build strength, technique, and confidence. Class will focus on refining classical ballet positions, alignment, and coordination while introducing more detailed combinations and movement sequences. Dancers will work on improving balance, control, musicality, and fluidity, with instruction emphasizing proper placement and clean technique in a supportive, relaxed, and encouraging environment. This class continues to build grace and artistry without pressure or intimidation. Formal ballet attire and shoes are not required—come dressed in fitness-inspired clothing and dance in socks or bare feet. There are no strict rules or traditional “prima ballerina” attitudes, just a welcoming class that supports growth, enjoyment, and a love of ballet.

Description: Ecstatic dance is a form of dance in which the dancers, sometimes without the need to follow specific steps, abandon themselves to the rhythm and move freely as the music takes them, leading to trance and a feeling of ecstasy. The effects of ecstatic dance begin with ecstasy itself, which may be experienced in differing degrees. Dancers are described as feeling connected to others, and to their own emotions. The dance serves as a form of meditation, helping people to cope with stress and to attain serenity.

Description: Take more chances, dance more dances! This class will combine techniques from ballet and mold it with modern and popular dance for a fun filled energetic class. This class can be done in bare feet, runners or jazz dance shoes. Learn to do footwork, leap, turn quickly, pivot, jete and pirouette. Inspiration from many dance genres may be covered in this class including but not limited to hip hop, show tunes, cabaret and other popular genres. Learn all the moves to feel empowered and own originality on the dance floor!

Description: Line dancing is great fun because it can be danced with or without a partner! Country Line Dancing is popular throughout the North America and is a favorite in country nightclubs, at weddings and in fitness centers. However, although line dancing may be commonly known with country music flare, line dancing can be done to any genre of music. In this fun and interactive line dancing class beginners will learn about beat, music timing, rhythm, basic dance steps, and will also learn simple choreographed repeating sequenced dance routines that the class will do together in arranged rows. These lines usually face all in the same direction but sometimes line dances are even performed facing each other. Come and join us for a low impact class suitable for all ages, great for the young and the young at heart!

Lyrical dance blends elements of ballet and jazz to create expressive, emotionally driven movement. This Level 2 class is designed for dancers who have a basic technical foundation and are ready to deepen both movement quality and emotional connection. Dancers will build upon fundamental ballet and jazz techniques while learning more intricate combinations, transitions, and musical phrasing. Greater emphasis is placed on control, fluidity, dynamics, and intentional use of breath to support expression. Movement continues to be inspired by music with lyrics, encouraging dancers to interpret and embody a wide range of emotions. While expression remains central, dancers will begin refining technique and clarity of movement within a supportive, encouraging environment. You will dance, feel, flow, move, breathe, and be—developing confidence, artistry, and emotional depth.

Description: Tap dancers have the unique opportunity to be musicians and dancers at the same time. This tap class will focus on a warm-up, technique, clarity of sound, and musicality. Students will gain experience in traditional tap vocabulary through learning and practicing a variety of tap steps, short phrases, tap turns and choreography using different rhythms supported by a wide range of music. Get those toes a tappin’ in this fun filled beginner friendly tap experience.

Tap dance is a rhythmic and expressive style of movement where sound and dance come together. This Level 2 class is designed for dancers who have a basic understanding of tap fundamentals and are ready to expand their skills. Dancers will build upon foundational steps while learning more complex rhythms, combinations, and transitions. Class will place an increased emphasis on timing, clarity of sound, syncopation, musicality, and personal expression, with opportunities to explore improvisation. Instruction is supportive and engaging, encouraging dancers to develop confidence, coordination, and stronger rhythmic awareness. Tap shoes are required for this class.

Tap dance is a rhythmic and expressive style where sound and movement work together through rhythm, syncopation, and musicality. This Level 3 class is designed for experienced tap dancers who are ready for increased challenge and refinement. Dancers will continue to build on a strong technical foundation with greater emphasis on speed, clarity, complex rhythms, musicality, and improvisation. Expression, creativity, and performance quality remain at the heart of this class, with opportunities to develop personal style and rhythmic confidence. This class is by instructor invitation only. Please check in with the instructor to determine if this level is appropriate for you. Tap shoes are required.

Description: Each Zumba class is designed to bring people together to get their sweat on. Zumba takes the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. While it incorporates some classical vocabulary and terminology, this Level 1 class focuses on exploration, creativity, and personal interpretation rather than rigid technique. Designed for beginners, this class introduces basic modern dance concepts through guided movement, breath, flow, and simple combinations. Dancers will learn to connect movement with sensation and musicality in a supportive, low-pressure environment. You will dance, feel, move, breathe, and simply be—building confidence and body awareness along the way. No prior modern dance experience is required. This class offers a welcoming space to explore movement and discover the magic of modern dance.
Contemporary Dance - Level 1

Contemporary dance is an expressive and innovative movement style that blends elements of classical ballet, jazz, modern, and lyrical dance. This Level 1 class is designed for beginners and those new to contemporary dance, offering a welcoming introduction to its fluidity, creativity, and emotional depth. Dancers will explore basic technique, grounded movement, breath, and flow through simple combinations and guided improvisation. Emphasis is placed on freedom of movement, self-expression, and connecting mind and body in a supportive, encouraging environment. You will dance, feel, flow, move, breathe, and simply be. It’s a little bit of magic on the dance floor—you’ll feel it.
